Browser Requirements

Netscape users:
The TVI Online Enrollment System does not currently support Netscape 6.x browsers. If you currently use Netscape 6, it is recommended that you upgrade to the current version of Netscape or use Microsoft Internet Explorer.

If you are having trouble accessing or logging in to the secure area, the following guidelines may help you to resolve the problem.

Supported Web Browsers

Full functionality of TVI's Online Enrollment System requires the use of one of the following web browsers. We cannot promise that browsers other than these will display the site as it was intended to be presented.

  • Netscape Navigator 4.x
  • Netscape Navigator 7.x
  • Internet Explorer 5.5
  • Internet Explorer 6.x

To determine your browser and version, go to Help in the menu bar and select "About...".

Cookies

Cookies are required to log in to the site. For more information about cookies, please see the Privacy Statement.

To adjust the cookie settings:

In Netscape Navigator 4.x , go to the Edit menu and select Preferences. Click on the "Advanced" category. In the lower right hand corner, click on the "Accept All Cookies" option and click OK.

In Netscape Navigator 7.x , go to the Edit menu and select Preferences. Click on the arrow next to "Privacy & Security" and select "Cookies". On the right, choose the "Enable All Cookies" option and click OK.

In Microsoft Internet Explorer 5, go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options. Click on the Security tab. Highlight the Internet zone and click on the custom level button. Scroll to the section labeled "Cookies". Make sure the options "Allow cookies that are stored on your computer" and "Allow per-sesion cookies" are enabled and click OK twice.

In Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options. Click on the Privacy tab. Move the slider down to the level of "Accept all cookies" and click OK.

In AOL 8.0 , go to keyword: PREFERENCES. From the organization column, click "Internet Properties (www)". In the AOL Internet Properties window, click on the Privacy tab. Make sure the slider is set to the "Accept all cookies" option and click OK.

Encryption

The security of the communications between your browser and the TVI Web Server can be ensured by using a browser that supports 128-bit encryption or higher.

To determine what level is supported by your browser:

Netscape Navigator 4.x - On a the log in page, go to the View menu and select Page Info. The level of encryption will be shown next to "Security". If your browser shows anything less than 128-bit, it is recommended that you upgrade to the current version of Netscape or use Internet Explorer capable of 128-bit encryption. Click on the "x" in the upper right-hand corner to exit.

Netscape Navigator 7.x - On a the log in page, go to the View menu and select Page Info. Click on the Security tab. The level of encryption will be shown next to "Connection Encrypted". If your browser shows anything less than 128-bit, it is recommended that you upgrade to the current version of Netscape or use Internet Explorer capable of 128-bit encryption. Click on the "x" in the upper right-hand corner to exit.

Internet Explorer 5.x/6.x - Go to the Help menu and select About Internet Explorer. The level of encryption will be shown next to "Cypher Strength". If your browser shows anything less than 128-bit, it is recommended that you upgrade your browser. Click OK to exit the Help dialog box.

AOL 8.0 - Go to keyword: BROWSER. Next to "Security Level", you should see "128 bit SSL (highest security)". If you see anything else, it is recommended that you upgrade Internet Explorer. Click OK to exit.

JavaScript

Javascript support must be enabled in your browser in order to access the secure area.

Browser Check:

To enable JavaScript in your browser:

In Netscape Navigator 4.x, go to the Edit menu and select Preferences. Click on the "Advanced" category. Make sure the "Enable JavaScript" checkbox is checked and click OK.

In Netscape Navigator 7.x, go to the Edit menu and select Preferences. Click the arrow next to "Advanced" and select "Scripts & Plugins". Make sure the "Enable JavaScript for Navigator" box is checked and click OK.

In Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x/6.x, go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options. From the popup window, choose the Security tab. Highlight the "Internet" zone and then click on the custom level button. Scroll to the section labeled "Scripting" and make sure that "Active scripting" is enabled and click OK twice.

In AOL 8.0, go to Keyword: PREFERENCES. Click Internet Properties(www) from the Organization column. In the AOL Internet Properties window, click on the Security tab. Highlight the Internet zone and click on the custom level button. Scroll to the section labeled "Scripting" and make sure that the option "Active scripting" is enabled and click OK twice.

Temporary Internet Files/Cache

It is recommended that you empty your browser's temporary internet files/cache regularly in order to see the most current information available on the site.

To empty the cache in your browser:

In Netscape 4.x, go to the Edit menu and select Prefences. Click on the "+" next to the Advanced category and select "Cache". On the right, click on "Clear Memory Cache" and "Clear Disk Cache" and click OK when prompted. Below this, make sure the setting "Document in cache is compared to document on network" is set to "Every Time" and click OK.

In Netscape 7.x, go to the Edit menu and select Prefences. Click on the arrow next to the Advanced category and select "Cache". On the right, click on "Clear Memory Cache" and "Clear Disk Cache". Below this, make sure the setting "Compare the page in the cache to the page on the network" is set to "Every Time I view the page " and click OK.

In Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x/6.x, go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options. On the General tab under Temporary Internet Files, click on the "Delete Files.." button. In the popup window, check the "Delete all Offline Content" check box and click OK. Next, click on the "Settings..." button. Make sure that "check for newer versions of stored pages" is set to "Every visit to the page" and click OK twice.

In AOL 8.0, go to Keyword: PREFERENCES. Click Internet Properties(www) from the Organization column. In the AOL Internet Properties window, on the General tab, click on the "Delete Files.." button. In the popup window, check the "Delete all Offline Content" check box and click OK. Next, click on the "Settings..." button. In the Settings window, make sure that "check for newer versions of stored pages" is set to "Every visit to the page" and click OK twice.
